Just got a TDI marked crb/so with 5.5" barrel and no stock. Was the barrel cut down? Will it explode? Should I sell?

Traded into a Gen 1 TDI marked spd .45 and from what I gathered they either run good or didn't. Previous owner told me it was an sdp but it is clearly marked CRB/SO. Has a 5.5" barrel and no stock. Was it modified or sold like this? Took this one I traded into (for a hell of a deal) and it runs pretty good. Still in the breakin period.

Came here and now I'm seeing lots of threads about Gen 1s exploding and kriss saying tough luck. Am I better off selling now while it's in good shape?

Also previous owner took off the rear sling plate/ hinge/ metal tab/ all mounting screws and such and lost it all. Anyone have the setup laying around from when they converted to arm brace or anything?

Thanks guys!

Welcome! The CRB model has always been a 16" barrel. It sounds like you should get somebody at KRISS to look up the S/N for you to make sure you don't have an illegal SBR.

The 'exploding' guns were actually pretty rare. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

The stock interface hasn't changed. Any attachment should fit fine, but the newer attachments likely won't match the color well.

Thanks for the welcome and fast response! Called Kriss and they said the serial sounded like a carbine but they would check the books and be sure.

In the meantime I called the previous owner and he was surprised. Or acted surprised at least, saying he purchased the gun as a pistol it was transferred as such to him.

What are my options here?

KRISS should be able to give you the best advice if it is an SBR. This is the kind of thing you want to have a reliable source for.

If it is, you will likely either have to pay to have the barrel replaced with a legal 16", file a Form 1 to make it a legal SBR (if it's the kind of thing you can just correct), or have it destroyed. Just my $0.02 from what I understand.

Barrel replacement is pricey. Not sure how much exactly.

I can't see how selling an illegal SBR would be good.

Best of luck to you whichever way. It sounds like a tough spot.
