Jams and Ejection issues Empty Jams and Ejection issues

Post by Solscud007 Sun May 20, 2012 5:57 pm

I cleaned my Vector but had quite a few jams and ejection issues with the PNW ammo. I have shot about little over half of the 500 rds I initially bought.

Here is my report of a fun shoot at Westpoint. You can see my Vector sometimes doesnt eject the spent brass. I remember seeing it eject and it would sit on top of the closed bolt. Then it would fire and spit out the previous and current spent brass at the same time.

Due to the soft ejection, sometimes the brass would get caught when the bolt would close. Im not sure what is causing this problem. I will get a box of WWB and test out the Vector and see if it does it again.

Oh hey guys, when you shoot your Vectors, are your brass getting dented?

Call KRISS. This is the original reason I sent mine back. It's still not too reliable.

Well I had a lengthy chat with Daniel and Buddy of KRISS USA. I think we narrowed down the problem to my pre-ban mags. They say that the KRISS does not work with them. Oh contraire, I have used them.

Fortunately I video my matches and I noticed a commonality with the faliures. I think every time I was using a preban mag.

So simplest answer is to keep the Prebans aside and keep shooting with my post ban 10 rd mags. see if the problem goes away or occurs.

Oh wow, never knew that. I'll have to dig some out and see how they go.

Also, I'll look to see if my brass is dented next time I shoot it. I've been having better luck lately, but I think that is due to the back pressure from the suppressor. On the downside, you wouldn't believe the amount of smoke coming out of the body of the gun. Like from everywhere haha, it's even coming out of the trigger guard and you have to set it aside and catch your breath every so often.

haha, LOL. Interesting. I have yet to shoot a SBR and suppressed Vector. But seeing how much smoke and fire came out of the SMG, Im not surprised.

Your post makes me glad I still have a Carbine. All the noise and smoke is away from me 12 inches forward of the Reciever.

Yeah, it certainly is very fun, but not sure it would be something I would want to shoot all day long. The can get so hot that you can't really stretch out on it like you shoot it or effectively use the modified AFG. You can always take the can off, but where's the fun in that??

My Kriss SBR runs at about 90% reliability with ejection and feed issues. I'm hoping it smooths out.

When i first started shooting my Kriss i had a couple of jams after cleaning it and using a little grease on the rails the bolt body travels on and i greased the rod holding the recoil spring I havent had a single jam or ejection issue since and I have put at least 5 or 6 hundred rounds through it. I have been using Federal JHP and S&B FMJ with 0 failures. Personally I think its a lubrication issue. Also I do notice ejected rounds being out of shape.

I have a carbine with 2 extended mag a 13 rounds mag. Ran 250 rounds without issues. Did notice that after 20 rapid shots it started to smoke from the unions. Also have bent shells but did notice that the shells are hitting the ejection port kind of hard.

I hope that this information could help anyone.

Coincidentally, I found this blurb that backs up their pre-ban statement a bit (and I'll add "your mileage may vary"):

Additional Information:

Note: We have found that the older, first-generation G21 magazines (circa 1995 and marked by pre-ban printing between the round count windows), may have occasional functional issues when installed in these Magazine Extension kits that can cause the follower / spring assembly to hang up as the magazine unloads. Best results will come from using the newer generation G21 magazines.

Like others, my spent brass is dinged up by the time it hits the floor. (Typically WWB, Blazer Brass, Federal Champion)

I was swapping parts in anticipation for a shoot this friday with a friend of mine in Pittsburgh. So i changed my Preban square notch to a post ban 13 round mag and installed the extension back on it. I noticed that the post ban mag has a definite bevel at the bottom of the mag. The prebans dont have that bevel and some do but it is much shallower and smaller.

I know that to get my Square notch mag working with the extension, I shaved the leading edge on the inside of the mag. It was where the forward tip of the follower would snag as it came up from the extension and into the mag body.

I posted the pictures in the Mag extension thread.

Also here is a picture of what the follower looks like getting snagged on a preban mag going up the extension.
