Problems getting Eotech 512 set up on sdp Empty Problems getting Eotech 512 set up on sdp

Just wanted to see if there is anyone else not able to get the retical of the 512 to proper height at 12-25 YDS on an SDP?
I am good with the stock sights but can not get the retical low enough on the Eotech. I have to aim the Eotech 4-5" low at 25YDS to get close to the center of a target. This is a 12" target @ 25YDS from a bench. There is no more adjustment from the retical of the Eotech to get it lower but full range of the adj. to get it higher. My point of aim was at the very bottom edge of the black circle. Aiming at the bulls were the upper hits. Any thoughts of what I can do ? I have tried moving it all the way back on the rail with very little change. As This is the red dot Kriss sells with their kits , I can't imagine them not being adjustable for this distance. Thanks in advance.

What reticle do you have on your Eotech? Regardless you should not have this problem. Contact L3 and tell them your eotech is not adjusting properly. Mine had issues with windage affecting elevation.

If you have the circle around the dot, you should be using the 12 o'clocl position of the circle as your point of aim. I use the circle as a quick adjustment for height over bore. But this is only an issue at like 10 feet and in.

Yes its the circle with the dot. Forgive my lack of knowledge of this sight but why would you not use the center dot for POI. I normally just plink with it and it is almost always at 25yds. I had one on my FN PS90 wich sits alot higher than the sdp and was able to adjust the dot to POI.

Your issues are strange and not normal.

The circle provides additional information that you can use. Like hold over or leading a target. It is like a scope with mil dots marked up, down, left and right. You don't have to use it but it is there.

AH... I see. I have been sitting here beating my head against the wall and think I have realized that I was for some reason having a brain fart all day and am a complete idiot. If I am aiming at the bottom of the target to hit the bulls eye I should adjust the reticle UP to the point of impact correct ? I was trying to bring the reticle down lower. I think I need to go back to the range with my head on right. Headbang

on scopes the travel of the dot is actually a circle, not a square, so on the vertical line from 12 to 6 oclock you would have full vertical adjustment, if the windage is to the left or right that vertical travel is shortened.

put it in a vise so its steady and move it around, put a poster board in front of it, record zero w/ a dot on poster, then max at 12/3/6/9 positions and mark them. see if you dont have windage maxed to left or right limiting how far it will travel down. dots should make a diamond excluding zero.

if you have to have the windage far left or right your rail isnt paralell to the barrel and your gun is fucked possibly. never seen anybody complain of that on kriss, ARs happens allot cause guys change rails w/ garbage super elite 4 rails hand guards.

if it has good travel left/right up/down and wont go down far enough, send it back.

that said. not to be a dick, but you are shooting the sdp, theres no stock, no cheek rest position, might just be an eye position problem, or your eye is diff. have somebody else shoot it.

dont get caught up in the which way to move it problem, easiest way, shoot 2 rounds at the bullseye, the holes should be touching someplace on the paper.

keep the dot on the bullseye, hold the rifle very very still. (benchrest works well) reach up on the eotech and adjust the dot to the holes. retest.

Yes you move the reticle to move bullet impact. So if bullet impact is low move reticle up.

I tried to site my eotech in at 50yds and had no luck.
Then I site it on 35yds and it works great then when shooting at 10yds aim
About 1-2" above the target

This is why the circle is the perfect design. With just a dot you have to guess the hold over at close range. But with the Eotech you can quickly look at the top of the circle as your new Point of aim and it will be the point of impact.

I have an Eotech EXPS2 and I adjusted to 25 & 50 USA without problem. Maybe your Eotech is damaged. Once I saw someone adjusting his sight and he was having a similar problem. The problem was that was turning the elevation adjustment knob in the wrong direction.

What is an MOA?

MOA stands for "minutes of angle" and 1 MOA is near 1"at 100 yards. The center dot in the standard reticle is 1 MOA across, and the ring is 65 MOA's across. Each of the adjustment shafts (both windage and elevation) on your HWS move in ½ MOA increments. This means every tactile click or single adjustment of the shaft will move your point of aim ½" at 100 yds; ¼" at 50yds; 1/8" at 25 yds.
