Meprolight M-21T Empty Meprolight M-21T

Post by Undrpsi Thu Sep 13, 2012 3:27 pm

Ok...first post (but not a blog-virgin)...

I did a search for this and got no hits.

I see the Meprolight M-21T's are on sale again...more than an Eotech 512 but I think they look better.

1. Does anyone know if it will co-witness with the IS's?
2. Has anyone shot it on another platform and can compare it to the Eotech 512 series?

Thanks in advance..

Jay

Hi Jay,

I don't have first-hand experience with the M21, but there are videos out there running it on the SMG (including KRISS themselves):

...and "The Deal" guy lmfao

...and this guy with it on the SDP:

Co-witness with the BUIS looks a little tough with the mounts shown. scratch

Good Grief...

It amazes me that I can get on youtube for 3 days and try to find Kriss shooting video's and NEVER did I see these (though I did find a lot of them)...oh..might have been when I found the college female sand volleyball video...kinda drifted then...

I did notice that all of those had 'quick disconnect' mounts on them...none were mounted straight to picatinney...the one I found appears to mound right on rail...no QD shown...

So I'll guess I'll keep looking...

Thanks for the posts...

Jay

Does the Mepro co-witness normal AR sights? cause if it does then it will co-witness KRISS Sights.

I was looking at getting one but I went with the Trijicon SRS. If you can get hands on it before you buy, try looking through it from dark room to light outside through a window/open door & bright light to dark light to see if it holds its light..
Also if it has Tritium its only good for 12-15yrs but they all start dimming. So if it was manufactured 3 years ago thats 9-12yrs lifespan of the Tritium.

Ok...went with the EOTech 512.A65 because I know that works...and it was well under 4 bills on sale. Might get the M-21 anyway...I have a G93 that's begging for a mid range optic...

I recognize that you've already made your choice, but I just wanted to throw my two cents in for future considerations.

When I was looking for an optic for my CRB, I was undecided between Eotech, Aimpoint and an M-21. I finally got to handle an M21 at a LGS, and I was shocked by how difficult it was to pick up the aiming reticle! The one I used was the "Open X" and perhaps others are easier to see, but the one I used was so small and dim I was immediately turned off. Also, the M21 was not the least bit forgiving on a sloppy cheekweld. There was a small area I could place and rest my head and see the x. The rest of the time, I'm staring through a blank lens. (Turn off number two.) Lastly, the lens is covered in a blue polarizing filter that really screwed with me when aiming with both eyes open (which you should do on a red dot, collimated sight). Those three things were enough to make me take the M21 from my wishlist. I wanted to like sight, but I couldn't.

In the end, I went with an Aimpoint Patrol Rifle Optic, and I couldn't be happier with its battery life and function. It looks sexy on the gun too!

Gun Today...

Thanks for the input. I went with the EOTech because it was a known quantity....used them before. I have an Aimpoint (older) that is one of the best things to put on an M4....but thought it would overkill on a KRISS. (The aimpoint excels at mid-ranges but, for me, is a little small for under 50 yards...YMMV!). I have seen the M-21 on a few other rifles but when I got to handle them we were outside in the very bright NC sunshine...they glowed brightly. They both had the 'amber' chevron and seemed like a great alternative to an EOTech et al...the no power thing appealed to me. I have since heard from several users (like you) who have said that anything but full dark (tritium) or full daylight (light pipe) was very iffy.

I am happy with 512...it cowitnesses fine and adjusts for any light conditions. AND...Amazon had them for under $370 with free shipping and no tax...so...no brainer there. I will say I have the 37mm Bushnell that costs $69 that can easily keep up with about anything out there. It just doesn't look as cool on the KRISS...so it stays on the MAK90 all the time.

Thanks
