Why no reloads??? Empty Why no reloads???

Post by Kirkster Thu Aug 23, 2012 8:40 pm

I shoot 1000 ~ 1500 rounds a month through my various .45 handguns. Needless to say I reload.

I really can't see my reduced power IDPA loads (over the legal limit by 75~100fps) by no means a full power load, being an issue. Certainly less recoil and pressures than the standard off the shelf box of ammo on their approved list.

So what is the issue? Just CYA for them on warranty, which is what this looks like? I have never worried about a factory warranty on a firearm, as I have yet to have to send one back for any reason...

Or is there a real issue due to the design of the gun? Anyone???

I have only run 500 rounds of factory ammo through it so far. When I reload It only costs me Between 6 and 9 dollars (lead vs montana gold JFP) per 50 rounds to reload so about half the cost of factory ammo. Needless to say I am not happy with the increased costs of shooting for this weapon

Mine runs through my hand loads with no problems at all. Generally 5.5 hp-38 with a 230 hp rainier or x-treem some zero.

Sadly KRISS is not forthcoming about that stuff. Winchester White Box used to be on the approved list but not now. I called them and spoke with Daniel, he explained that there was a squib issue that arose with a customer. I ran master cast remanufactured ammo in my KRISS. I think if you have an SDP or SBR then there is very little chance of issues with a reload. But the 16" barrel on the carbine is a bit of a concern due to increased drag.

That doesn't make sense how Kriss doesn't warrant a gun because of reloads. Jeff Quinn just did a review of the Kriss SDP. In his review he tested with his own handloads. I am sure Kriss Arms was aware of this.

I'd would say its a to protect themself from someone blowing up there Vector
and trying to blame KRISS. If I was someone using reloads in my Vector I just
wouldnt let them know if i had to send the weapon in for warranty work.
There is no way to tell what type of ammo you use.
