Super V internal updates throughout production? Empty Super V internal updates throughout production?

Post by saki302 Fri Feb 10, 2012 9:01 am

Hi guys,

A good friend of mine has a Super V here in CA- one of the early models. We did a custom one-off legalization rendering it featureless (detachable mags and hi=cap use = okay). It's a little ergonomically odd, but it works well enough.

So far his has worked 100% with ball ammo (besides not always ejecting unspent ammo- I found a fix for this- tilt the barrel up slightly and rack the handle hard!).

I was curious what changes were made to the later production models- supposedly some things were done to make them more reliable- it would be nice to see if someone has a list of the alterations.

I see they changed some of the lettering on the outside, and the buffer material looks different, but other than that I can't tell.

Thanks!

-Dave

Dave,

While not the solution to the problem, I have learned to accept the fact that my KRISS vector will not eject an unfired round. Either a FTF or an unfired round. Here are the solutions that i have come up with.

1. Rip the magazine out and rack the bolt so the round falls down.
2. Rack the bolt and lock it. Do a "wave" like motion, similar to shotguns, and roll the round out of the chamber/ejection port.

From what I was told all Vectors with 1200 and lower serial numbers have the life time warranty and the new ones are only 1 yr and 2 yrs if registered online
within 30 days of purchase

While the 1-year + option is currently posted:

https://kriss-usa.com/warranty#kriss-firearms

... I would still strongly encourage folks to contact KRISS USA directly.  I have found, at least with other manufacturers, that what they have "printed" vs. what they will actually do to be different things.  Sometimes, what gets printed/posted is the official "bozo filter" to keep unrealistic service requests off the table, but if you have a legitimate concern or request, they should be more than happy to talk to you and see what they can do to keep you running right.

(FWIW... I'm CRB # 1091... my father is rockin' a CRB # 606)

That's great and all but I shoot my KRISS every second sunday of the month at my local match. As i cant shoot pistol without a permit (working on it) I cant shoot anything else. i could use my Keltec Sub2000 but do I want to? Nope. I like the KRISS more.

(paraphrasing here) ... and I need my gun! Can't have it sent out for an extended period. affraid

Yes, it may take two weeks or so depending on what work is to be done and what the workload is with the 'smiths. Only way to know is to contact them directly and discuss the options. In my case, with a low serial, there were A LOT of updates to do at the time.

For things like the F/S selector or stock mod, those *might* be considered more cosmetic/comfort/preference and not done automatically. (Although if the F/S is changed, you'd need the updated stock because the cutout on the right side of the stock is different to accommodate the revised selector when folded.)

That said, I should take my own advice and inquire about sending mine in again. It's working fine, but I'm not a gloves shooter... and the selector and stock radius mods would be welcome changes for me. Very Happy

It would be neat if we could get internal pics of a late model Kriss, and compare them with an early model. My friend's is in the 1000 serial range- I can snap some pics next time I'm over there.

Here's some pics I put up showing the old internals. When he has more time, I'll get better pics of my buddy's gun (had about 5 minutes to take these).

I just got my Vector back from KRISS, (I sent it in because it wouldn't go bang), they took care of the issues in about 10 days but never explained what was wrong. They replaced the bolt, trigger control group, new lower receiver housing and all new springs and pins.

More pics up of the gen 1 internals:

We're reluctant to mess with this one (send it back) since reliability is 100% so far with 230gr. ball. It's also not their standard CA model, but a custom version, so I don't know how weirded out they'd be. My buddy bought it used from a private party.
