New Tavor Toy Empty New Tavor Toy

Post by AZ2000 Thu Aug 01, 2013 2:21 am

Just wanted to share this one.  Picked up a new Tavor, black, wanted an earth, but that looks to be six months or so out.  Put on an AR223 Burris with the bullet drop compensator reticle, it was spot on at 300 and 400yds shooting at two 2' X 2' pieces of steel. The pics are a comparison of my M-4 with stock collapsed and the Tavor out of the box.  Gun ran flawlessly with about six different types of mags, poly, aluminum and steel and never missed a beat, all loaded and dropped clean with no hang up's. Ergonomically it felt different because of the flat stock, but something that will not be hard to adapt to and use easily.  The target is with about a 5 to 7 mph cross wind after setting the 100 yd zero earlier with no wind.  Cleaning is simple and easy and comes apart in modules. As of now and unless something unknown pop's up, looks like the AR's will be safe queens for awhile.Shocked

My buddy has one and it looks and feels good when shouldered. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet though.

CB671, when you do shoot it you may not want to give it back.  Only had mine for a short while but I do like it.violent violent

Seems pretty high, retail here is 2k give or take a hundred over or under, but then another k for an EoTech?    Wow.  Are all the prices in Guam that high, or is it just the dealer?

cb671, you might send Brian at Homeland Guns 740-820-4867 in Ohio an e-mail and see if he can give you an idea on shipping and such, you still may be able to save some bucks on the total price?  Not sure if he can deal out of country but an e-mail won't cost anything. An Eotech shouldn't be more than $500.00 depending on the model?  He shipped mine to AZ for an even 2k, which is retail.

I got to shoot an 18" version last Friday. Im definitely gonna get the longer one. Does yours pass gas in your face? We noticed some unpleasant gas return on the one we shot Friday.

Yes it does but not to bad, it seems if you suppress it, it get's a little worse but one of the guy's on bullpup forum has came up with some pretty nice items for it and one is a swivel cover plate with a built in gasket that helps seal in the gas and divert it out the gun.

http://bullpupforum.com/index.php?action=forum#2

If you are looking at the 18" for more accuracy I put some 100yd test pic's up using home made 77 SMK, set to magazine length so they fit and was able to shoot a roughly 2" group at 100yds out of my 16.5 barrel, so the short one is accurate also, appears to be as accurate as my 16" RR m-4.  If you go back and read some of the post by Gearhead and Starlight all kinds of new things out and they are working on a new trigger system to bring the 12 pound combat trigger pull down to around 4 or 5 pounds, which will increase the accuracy even more. I have around 700 rounds through mine and after you get used to the feel and the look of the gun, it may well be your go to gun for everything.  Am I glad I bought it, about as happy as a puppy with two peckers.

Kipp, when you get a chance to take yours out suggest you take plenty of ammo, you won't want to stop shooting it.

Yeah the trigger pull was a bit much. Good to know about the gasket.

Grabagun is always the lowest price around - I wouldnt base current condition prices on theirs. Even during the panic, if they had it in stock it was below msrp.

Recently picked up a B16. The extended flash hider brings the Tavor a shy over 30” OAL to make it CA compliant. The forearm shroud is a Gear Head Works Tavor Modular Forearm (TMF) with an integrated Primary Arms Compact Weapon Light (420 lumens). Also installed is a Gear Head Works FLEx (Fulcrum Located Extra swivel) which provides a more optimally placed swivel mount, and serves as a gas blocker replacing the stock plastic cover. The optic is a Trijicon ACOG TA33G-H with a LaRue Tactical LT105 QD Mount.

- Extended Shell Deflector

Manticore Arms:
- Luma Safety (just the flatter right side is being used)
