California Version Modifications

Post by Caottanhowdy on Sun Jan 20, 2013 6:57 pm

I bought a CA version Kriss Super V but live in Colorado. Anyone know how to remove the bullet button?

The BB comes from the Kriss factory. I'm not sure what one would have to do to install a standard mag release.

It may be as easy as obtaining the mag release button and snapping it in. But I somehow doubt that. Smile

The BB hole is tiny on the Vector. I haven't found a bullet that fits in it. I basically have to use a very small screwdriver, or the allen key that comes with the Kriss to pop out the mag.

I've though about taking a drill to the hole and making it bigger so I can pop the mag with say, a 7.62 NATO bullet tip. But haven't had the guts to try it.

Has anyone popped the mag rel button on a vector and examined it? How does it attach? What is the diameter of the shaft (presuming it works that way) that protrudes through the poly to press the release mechanism?

I feel like its basically a cover over a normal mag release. I am tempted to just get a flat head and try and pry it off. Well I would be more tempted if it wasnt a 2k gun violent

Actually I was cleaning the gun today and took a more careful look at it and you may be right.

Looking at this picture, especially.

I may do some prying. Smile

Good to know. Now, does it look like it'd be easy to pop back on?

From what I've read, the easiest way to get a folding stocks is to buy a whole stock. http://www.blacklabeltactical.com/firearms/kriss-vector-usa/kriss-vector-folding-stock-assembly-kit.html#.UPzIDmeS98E

Supposedly getting the parts to convert the CA version is a lot harder than just getting a new folding stock.

They're out of stock, but maybe someone else has one?

To make the stock to fold you need the latch button with spring and a new hinge pin. Some people removed the hinge pin without destroying it but I needed to drill it out. My dealer got me the parts free of charge because it was supposed to be a non California model. It did took a long of time to get the two parts though.

Look on the forum. There are some photos an a how to somewhere.

Yes it popped back on pretty easy. The button under it is smaller than the one in your above picture. I am trying to upload a pic but the hosting service is not being cooperative Headbang

The smaller button is the actual extended glock mag release. KRISS just screws on a bigger plate to make it easier to hit it.

Cool. I'm going to take mine off if it's easy to snap on/off. Will probably drill a bigger hole so I can use a reasonable sized tool to hit the button when it's on.

Yes apparently it is possible. But really it's just a little bigger than what you already have.

Does anyone know or can check to see what is the size of the allen screws holding the plate onto the mag release lever?
I see that the existing holes in the mag release lever are threaded.
Thanks!

That small mag release "under" the California bullet button "is" the stock mag release button that Kriss uses. They just screw a wide plate onto the button with two screws. If you call Kriss they will sell you the wide plate and two screws. The do not show the part on their web site. I know this because I have the California model and got the parts from them.

I'm looking for the hex screw size, so I can make my own plate to screw into the mag release. I called Kriss yesterday, and Rudy said his compliance guy didn't allow selling of the plate and screws to CA. Eeesh...

That is so lame! What if you're just trying to put a better bullet button on it like the Radlock?

It will accept a normal Glock 21 extended mag release.  Just get this one from Magloc and replace the Kriss one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F90AL9G/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has a plate on it that can be flipped around and it'll basically be just like the non-CA Kriss release.  Then bolt the Raddlock over it and you're nice and California legal.
